India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has put the lid on the speculation about his retirement. The air was thick with rumours that Jadeja will announce his retirement from the ODI format after the Champions Trophy 2025 final between India and New Zealand.
As Virat Kohli hugged Jadeja after the latter finished his quota of overs in the final on Sunday, the rumour mill started churning. Was that hug between Jadeja and Kohli a goodbye? Were the whispers true?
However, post the Champions Trophy euphoria, Jadeja denied all such claims. He took to Instagram, not with a lengthy statement, but with a simple, direct message:
"No unnecessary rumours. Thanks."
Jadeja's performance in the final against New Zealand was a masterclass in all-round brilliance. Ten overs, just 30 runs, a crucial wicket of Tom Lathan - the left-arm spinner was the quiet architect of New Zealand's stifled innings. He then hit the winning runs with the bat, scoring unbeaten six-ball nine.

Rohit Sharma not retiring from ODIs after Champions Trophy 2025
Following India’s victory, captain Rohit Sharma too denied all the chatter around his ODI retirement. In the post-match presser, Rohit confirmed that he has no intentions of hanging up his boots and still has unfinished business to do in the ODI format.
"I am not going to retire from this (ODI) format. Going forward please don't spread rumours," Rohit said as quoted to the reportes on Sunday.
"No future plans. Jo ho raha hain, woh chalta jayega (Whatever is happening will keep continuing)," he added.
Rohit starred with the bat in the run-chase, scoring 76 runs off 83 balls on a sluggish Dubai pitch as India won by four wickets. His efforts led India to the second-consecutive title under his captaincy.
