Australia's injury crises has deepened ahead of the team's upcoming three-match ODI series against India, starting on October 19. The hosts have already lost skipper Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green, and now, they have lost the services of Josh Inglis and Adam Zampa in the first ODI in Perth.

Inglis, who was also ruled out of the three-match T20 series against New Zealand due to a calf injury, has failed to recover from the blow on time and is most likely to miss the first two ODIs of the series. Meanwhile, Zampa will be missing the first ODI due to personal reasons. The Keeper-batter's injury means the hosts wont have the services of two first-choice keeper-batters in the squad, as Alex Carey is busy playing the Sheffield Shield ahead of the Ashes series and will be only available in the later part of the series against India.

In the absence of Inglis and Carey, Josh Philippe has joined the squad. The youngster had also replaced all-rounder Maxwell for the T20 series against New Zealand. However, he did not get a chance to feature in the three T20Is.

Australia grapples with injury woes

Notably, it has been over two months since Australia has managed to play a full-strength squad in the white-ball formats. It has had a cascading effect as the hosts lost the ODI series against South Africa badly. The players have missed series due to a combination of injuries and for Ashes preparation. While Inglis is out due to being sidelined with a calf strain, all-rounder Cameron Green is focusing on his preparation for the Winter Ashes series and is currently playing Sheffield Shield Cricket. He will also miss the T20 series against India for the Ashes.
