On the back of India’s recent injury concerns to key players, there are reports that Anshul Kamboj will make his Test debut in Manchester. The Test match starts from July 23 with the Men in Blue needing to win the Test to level the series.
After the Lord’s defeat, Team India have been hit by multiple injury setbacks. Nitish Kumar Reddy is out of the series with a knee injury. Arshdeep Singh is also out of the fourth Test with an injury to his bowling hand. His immediate future in the remaining series is also unknown.
Injury concerns are also lingering over Akash Deep and Rishabh Pant. Akash Deep has picked up a groin niggle while Pant is recovering from the injury he had on his left index finger.
Anshul Kamboj's Test Debut In Prospect
With the Indian team looking for a formidable combination leading upto the fourth Test in Manchester, there are reports that Anshul Kamboj might be given his maiden Test cap straightaway. He was called in as cover for Arshdeep and Akash Deep. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj has confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will play the fourth Test.
The medium pacer bowled for 45 minutes during India’s net session against the likes of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. He also had intense conversations with Bumrah, Siraj and Ajit Agarkar. With Siraj and Bumrah set to play in Manchester, Kamboj could join them as the third seamer. There are talks of India playing four seamers with a likely green top on offer at Old Trafford.

Pant Resumes Wicketkeeping, Akash Deep Proves Fitness
Meanwhile, in a positive news for India, Rishabh Pant has resumed his wicketkeeping and also had a catching session including the slip cordon. There was enough padding on the injured finger for him to resume his wicketkeeping before eventually he also had a net session with the bat. Akash Deep had a fitness session under the watchful eyes of Morne Morkel. However, he did not do anything more than just bowling.
