Afghanistan's premier spinner Rashid Khan, has till now ticked all the boxes, but one major box is yet to be ticked in his already impressive CV. That major tick, or wish, is to play in his home country Afghanistan. Despite the Asian country growing in stature and giving tough competition to all the bigger teams, they are yet to play at home due to political and infrastructural limitations.
During a recent interaction at the Dubai event, the Afghan spinner spoke about the importance of playing at least once at home, something that is still the team's long-cherished desire despite achieving the team's full member status since 2017.
"That's in FTP for now. But when the time comes, it’s only then you will know whether it’s happening. There have been so many games scheduled in Afghanistan... but they have never taken place. But hopefully, it happens. It's good for cricket and good for Afghanistan," said Rashid.

Rashid Khan optimistic about playing in Afghanistan
The Gujarat Titans (GT) spinner, Rashid, as a kid, always dreamed of playing in his home country in front of passionate crowds. However, that dream is still impending, as Afghanistan currently plays all its home matches in India, UAE, Qatar, and Sri Lanka. The leg spinner is hoping that he fulfills his wish before he calls it quits.
"Well, if it eventually happens, that will be a kind of dream to play international cricket in Afghanistan. I hope that comes before I retire from the sport. That's something that I dream of playing in front of my home crowd. So, hopefully, that happens in the future.” Rashid added.
