Australia will lock horns with South Africa on Tuesday, August 12, in the second T20I of the ongoing three-match T20I series. The hosts won the first match on account of a blistering match-winning innings by Tim David. The Aussie finisher is in a rich vein of form and is thriving in his role of batting up the order. Despite Australia being four wickets down in the power play, David kept attacking and enabled the hosts to put a 180-plus total on board.
On the other hand, South Africa would rue not finishing the run chase despite being in a position of strength. Barring Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs, none of the other batters could bat sensibly and see off the run chase. While the visitors may have endured a tough loss, there were a lot of positives to take away from the game. None bigger than 19-year-old pace sensation Kwena Maphaka, as he was breathing fire. Bowling looks good, it is the batters who have to bat level and put the pressure on Aussie bowlers. In the first T20I, the hosts found different heroes to step up. Veteran Josh Hazlewood, Glenn Maxwell, and Adam Zampa bowled well. They managed to take crucial wickets, which derailed the Proteas' run chase. However, top-order batting remains a concern for the hosts. Mitchell Marsh's promotion up the top did not work in the first T20I. It remains to be seen how the veteran plays in the power play with Travis Head.
