Team India skipper Rohit Sharma lavished huge praise on Shreyas Iyer for being the most underrated and unsung hero in the team's unbeaten Champions Trophy 2025 title run. India were simply unstoppable in the global event managing to win five games by not breaking sweat. While every player chipped in with valuable and useful contributions, Shreyas Iyer's brisk knocks at number four were instrumental in India not losing momentum in a run chase, or while setting a huge score.
Iyer finished CT as the second-leading run-scorer with 243 runs at an impressive average of 48. The right-hand batter scored vital 40s in the semi-final and final against Australia and New Zealand respectively, in the tricky run-chases.

Rohit Sharma lauds Shreyas Iyer's composure and character
Speaking about Iyer in the press conference after winning CT for the third time, Rohit said (via India Today)
"We knew the conditions would be difficult, but we adapted well. If you look at all the games, the first game was against Bangladesh. I know it was only 230, but we knew that the wicket was a little slow. We needed partnerships. The batsmen made big partnerships. Not to forget the silent hero Shreyas Iyer throughout the tournament was brilliant."
Team India skipper added:
"He was very, very important in that middle phase for us. Stitched the partnerships with all the batters who are batting with him that semi-final against Australia, and with Virat at that point was very, very important."

Iyer has been one of the vital cogs for India in the middle order for past two years. The 30-year-old scores his runs briskly at a strike rate of of over 100, and takes the attack to the opposition. He is also very adept in playing spin and pace well, and is India's middle-order enforcer.
